Intervention in the public space
Rhythm and body, dance and voice: this powerful performance sees a horde of women clad in black take over Fribourg’s public squares. The physical exertion and repetitive movements cast a trance-like spell and creates an intimate yet universal experience. For the performers, the key lies in surrendering themselves completely to these movements that stir up primal, raw emotions. For the public, the performance generates a surge of power, a moment of self-transcendence, an overwhelming whole.
For the choreographer, Bouchra Ouizguen: “Corbeaux is not a show but a flight; a flight away from the stage and its methods of production. I wanted to appropriate the streets with help from a horde of ageless ‘corps beaux’ (beautiful bodies). A vital act, a sound sculpture, raw, urgent and timeless.”
Local participants can also take part in this performance by the Moroccan dance company. If you would like to participate, see the workshop page for details.
