Swiss museum and centre for electronic musical instruments

This incredible collection features over 1,000 examples of electromechanical musical instruments from the last 50 years, including keyboards, synthesisers, pianos, organs as well as effect processors and other studio equipment. This unique treasure trove was recently relocated to Fribourg from its original home in Basel. Designed to be an interactive repository space, the SMEM plans to provide access to these instruments for on-site recordings, concerts, festivals and workshops for musicians, children and young people. Guided tours in small groups through the cellars of the former Cardinal brewery give public access to this living archive for the very first time.
